Today my son was in preschool so I took advantage of the kid free time to do my shopping and have lunch with my girlfriends.

Lucky for me there is a Walgreens and a Rite Aid just one block from my son's preschool.

My first stop was at Walgreens where I did three transactions.

My total OOP after using my Register Rewards was $5.34 + tax and I still have $1 in RR

My second stop was at Rite Aid

My total OOP after using my coupons and Up rewards was $0.30 + tax and I have around $13 in Up dollars still to spend.

My third stop was at Ralph's to take advantage of their buy 10 get $5 off. I bought a combination of 30 Campbell's soups, Chunky soups, gravy, and chili. I also got two free boxes of Wheat thins.

My total OOP was $8.46 and I saved about 86%

I then stopped at Target where my total OOP was $11.92

I then ran into Von's to get my free Wholly Guacamole with my $4/1 coupons

My total OOP for today was $25.72 and with my coupons and club cards I saved $181.10

In the blink of an eye

My beautiful Bebo is getting married. I'm pleased, and a bit shocked, how in just a blink of an eye she has grown up to a beautiful woman who will be getting married this July. Time really does fly by so fast.

Maureen was my first niece. I was 13 when my sister announced that she was pregnant and I thought it was the worst idea I had ever heard. Looking back I'm not sure why I was so against it (though I'm thinking my 13 year old self thought it meant I was going to "lose" my big sister) but as my mother and I drove to San Diego to meet the baby for the first time I vehemently announced that I would NEVER be called Aunt Amy never! I just hated the whole idea and I was quite sure the whole mess would end badly.

Well, that thinking lasted as long as it took to hold Maureen in my arms for the first time. In a second I was in love with this amazing pink and beautiful creature (even when she threw up in my mouth) and I found being an Aunt was the best idea ever! So glad they thought of it. I have love for many children in my life but there is something about the flesh of your flesh that is such an amazing connection.

That day I fell in love with being an Aunt and now my many Nephew and Nieces are the jewels of my life. I treasure each and every one of them. I have around 16 or so now (I lose count) and I LOVE being called Aunt and insit that each and everyone of them always use my title that I love and am so proud of.

Maureen was my first model. I used to spend half my paycheck going to Mervyn's to get a cute outfit for our latest "photoshoot" and lucky for me she was a ham and would pose for hours. She has grown into a beautiful, loving woman and I'm so proud of her.

It's a good thing to have an Aunt who's a wedding photographer when your planning a wedding. ;) I couldn't be more thrilled that I will be there when Maureen marries her love Tom.

And in the blink of an eye I suppose I will get to see if I like being a great Aunt too.

No rush of course but this time I know I'm gonna love it. ;)

Happy Halloween! Hope your holiday was happy and haunting.

It was another great year here at Elmwood Court where Halloween is a big deal. Our only complaint is we only got 1/4 of the kids that were Trick or Treating just one street away. Next year we are going to work on getting more attention to our haunt and therefore more kids.

Last night I was supposed to be photographing the labor and birth of my friends Jewelyn's baby girl Gabrielle. Instead today I am posting Jewelyn's picture from her maternity shoot we did just two weeks ago.

All I have to post are pictures from her maternity session because Jewelyn died today giving birth to her baby girl.

Yesterday we were texting each other excitingly planning the details of how she would let me know when her labor was really progressing, and when I would arrive at the hospital. How excited we were for her and her husband to meet Gabby. To become a family.

Today I sit here numb. Somehow my brain can't process it. But it is the truth.

Jewelyn is gone and the baby girl that was the subject of our every conversation will never get the chance to know her mother.

And while it may sound strange to you, I sit here grateful.

Grateful that I had the chance to know and love Jewelyn.

Grateful that Gabby is well and will be coming home soon.

Grateful that nine months ago, excited to learn of Jewelyn's long wanted pregnancy, we planned a maternity shoot.

Grateful because now I have these photographs of Jewelyn for Gabby and I can show her.

See you mother Gabby, see how beautiful she is. See how beautiful you two were that day. Your was mother glowing with love and excitement for you.

See how happy she was. See how much she loves you. See how much she wanted you. See how much you look like her.

I want yesterday back. I want to give it to Gabby.

Things have been pretty quite around here for a bit as I took a much need break but I am about to jump right back into the wedding season with three weddings and a few engagement sessions coming up in the next two weeks.

But before I get back into all that my son's first birthday is coming up a week from today. I can't believe how fast the year has gone by. It feels like a blink of an eye.

It has been hands down the best year of my life and I can't wait to celebrate his big day next Saturday with all his loved ones.

When my husband and I left Riverside the sky was dark and scary looking and rain clouds were rolling in but when we got to Aliso Viejo the sun was shining, and the Soka campus couldn't have been more beautiful.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Annie and Mike but only minuets into our shoot they both started forgetting I was there and I'm just tickled by the shots I was able to get. It's so much fun working with two people so much in love and I'm really looking forward to their wedding this July.

I chose this song for their slide show because I felt the upbeat feel really matched Anne and Mike's energy.

I met with Melissa and Mike at the amazing Wood's Cove in Laguna beach. Melissa and Mike were easy to laugh and so much fun to shoot. I can't wait for their wedding in October.

I met with beautiful Bella and her family last month in Fairmont park for our long planned photo session. I've just been so darn busy I haven't had a chance to post the images till now.

When I was driving up the long dirt road that leads to Monteleone Meadows in Murrieta I was a little skeptical and my photographers mind was racing with ideas on how to make photos in a dirt field look beautiful. Imagine my delight when I drove up the lane and saw the amazing location where the wedding was going to be. Literally an oasis in the desert!

Mindy and James wedding had a western theme and all the special touches really added to the day. From the color theme of black and white, with touches of green and yellow, Mindy's boots, the western Tuxes, and the beautiful flowers.

Mindy was so calm and sweet she was the anti bridezilla, and James certainly earned every dime during the money dance. When the dancing got started you couldn't help but have fun. So many great pictures!

For the life of me I can't remember their first dance song (sorry) so for the first song I used "When I said I do" a county music song that I've always thought was perfect for a weddings. For the second song I used "All Summer Long" which was played at the reception and seemed to be a crowd favorite.

A Hairy Milestone...

This hair do (or don't) has been inspiring me to sing "Hey, Hey were the Monkeys" to him the last week or so.

I wanted to do his first hair cut right so we took him to Monkey Dooz. Thanks Val!

I wasn't sure what his reaction would be but he was completely unfazed by the whole thing. He just sat on Daddy's lap and watched all the other kids.

I just can't get over this face. Just melts my heart.

Awww it's a boy under all that hair! So handsome.

Getting his "certificate" filled out. The ladies were laughing at me since I was taking pictures and using my Flip video at the same time. The hairdresser suggested I open a photo studio. My husband got a good laugh out of that one.

He's only 9 months and he's already giving me the "awww Mom do you have to?" look.

I met with Melissa, Jameson, and their adorable dog Benji, at Prospect Park for their engagement session. I have shot here before but we were able to explore even more of the park and I'm in love! It has a ton of different places to shoot at and just beyond beautiful.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Beagles, having had one myself, and Benji lived up to his "Beagleness" and kept us all entertained during our shoot.

Melissa and Jameson will be staring their lives together this August when they tie the knot at Pine Creek Gardens and I can't wait to get my lens on them again.

Shannon and Jessie celebrated the beginning of their lives together with their family and friends at a rocking reception this Saturday. I was lucky enough to get to photography the evening for them and I have to say I just love shooting a wedding celebration after having done the engagement session. Feels like I'm part of the story.

I met with the H family at the California Baptist University campus for what turned out to be a windy, cold, shoot. So much for a "Spring" shoot. I loved seeing how the 6 cousins interacted and enjoyed each other. Especially baby Luke.

The kids kept me on my toes but it was fun keeping up with them but I don't think the grass stains will ever come out. Totally worth it!

For the most part put a camera in my hand and I'm a happy woman, but put a camera in my hand with two happy people like Holly and John I'm in photographer's heaven.

We met at Prospect Park in Redlands for their maternity shoot and had so fun exploring the park and finding places to shoot. I definitely plan on future shoots at Prospect Park.

Pierce is 7 months now and almost crawling. I expect that we are going to be in some real trouble any day now.

He has two teeth breaking through his bottom gum. He's been beyond miserable but I think the worst is over. At least for now.

He's started sleeping in his crib. Harder on Momma than it's been on Pierce but it's time even though it's been hard to let go.

Everyday his personality comes out more and more and I'm thrilled by the person he's already becoming.

I look forward to each day and can't wait to see what changes it will bring..

For Better or Better...

Maybe I've seen too many movies but when I heard it was going to be a courthouse wedding I guess I was expecting something cold, and even a little sterile. Well the wedding of Minnie and Ben was anything but cold and sterile . It turned out to be one of the of the warmest, heartfelt, funnest weddings I've ever been too.

Minnie's laugh and joy were infectious and when she changed the vows from "for better or worse" to "for better or better" I got a little girl crush.

The ceremony was held at the Laguna Hills Civic center which turned out to be a surprisingly beautiful location for a wedding.

We crammed about 50 people in a room meant for 1o. Far from being a negative it made the ceremony even more fun and intimate. I just love this group shot.

To visit my childhood bff Heather, her husband Tim, and their baby bean.

When I told Heather that I had done the math and figured out that we had been friends for 30 years she was as surprised a as I was that we had known each other that long and the we were really that old. :)

Heather and Tim are welcoming their baby girl this March (no name picked out yet so for now she's known as the Bean) and I couldn't be happier for them both.

It's just so perfect that my free spirit, fun loving friend is having a girl. I can't wait to meet her and watch her grow. Maybe someday she and Pierce can eat too much Popcorn, sink boats, and play Monopoly till 1am together

On Sunday was Heather's baby shower. There was tons of guests, food, games, gifts, and fun for all. This is going to be one really well dress bean!

After several request I'm super excited to announce that I will be shooting another boudoir marathon on March 8th, 2009 in Anaheim. I am teaming up with the incredible Liz make up artist to make your experience even more fabulous!

It's the perfect gift for your husband, fiance, boyfriend, or even yourself! Imagine the reaction you will get from him when he opens up his gift of gorgeous photos of you! You won't believe how beautiful you will look and feel!

Here's how it works: You will arrive 1 1/2 hour before your shoot at a great house in Anaheim where you will get your hair and makeup done while you enjoy a bit of bubbly and some great music to help set the mood.

I will shoot your boudoir session for one hour. You may bring as many outfit changes you desire. Three weeks after the session takes place, I will provide you with a CD of 15 edited, high resolution images from your session to create prints, albums, and brag books.

The cost for hair and makeup, the session and CD of 15 images is only $200!! Additional edited digital files may be purchased for $15 each.

Well the youngest member of this family was a tough nut I couldn't quite crack till the last second of our shoot but I finally got some smiles out of him (turns out the old don't smile trick still works).
Due to a recent injury dad couldn't make the climb all the way down to the beach so plan on seeing this family again for a mini session later in the month.

Why is it that even though I have a six month old at home being around a beautiful baby like Luke gives me baby fever? Well for whatever reason Luke gives it too me bad.

His own man at just one month old Luke defies everything they teach us in photography. They say that you must do newborn shoots in the first 10 days or you will never get sleepy baby pics. Well what do they know? Luke proved them all wrong.

I will shoot your event 100% free of charge and provide you with all high resolution files on disk for you to print in exchange for a model release that allows me to use the images for my portfolio/website/blog.

After a long wait Tiffany and Davic will become parents to twin girls this March and I couldn't be happier for them. I had so much fun on the shoot. I had a hard time keeping my camera still from laughing so much.

Boudoir marathon day 2

I wonder if I will ever stop being surprised by how much fun I have on one of these shoots.

I started shooting at 8 am and finished at 5. By the time I was done even my camera was tired but I loved every second of it!

The best part is how every woman came in nervous and unsure and walked out talking about how much fun it was and with an extra little strut in their step.

5 Minuets for 5 Months Pictures

I never got around to taking his 4 months pictures so I wanted to make sure I got out and took some for his 5th month. He is teething and not really in the mood for pictures but I did get him to cooperate for a few minuets

Pierce has been sitting on his own a tiny bit for a few days now. I have to admit as a photographer I have been eagerly waiting this day. There are only so many pictures you can take of your kid lying on his back.

Isn't the onesie adorable? I'm proud to say I made it myself. But he barely fits into the 3 to 6 month size anymore. He's growning so fast.

Unfortunately my session was canceled on Sunday because of the wind.

Having a bit of unexpected free time I deiced to do something I haven't done enough of lately. I silenced my phone, ignored the TV, and turned off my computer. For about an hour I spent time with my son.

We giggled, we sang, we practiced sitting up, and just enjoyed each other.
I find myself more in love than ever.

Family Maternity Shoot

I met the C family at the Wilson Creek Winery for our maternity session. The day was beautiful and very cold but we were able to get some great shots of the family and baby belly Joaquin who is due in just a few weeks.

This is a close as we could get to Isabel posing for me. I left her black eye in these shots 'cause that's the way she rolls!

How lucky can I get?

For my first Boudoir shoot not only did I get to beautiful ladies (both inside and out), Lacey and April, but I got to shoot in one of the coolest houses I've ever seen!

Working with these two was like hanging out with two girlfriends. I was so excited to do my fist boudoir shoot but I never expected it to be so much fun. I can't wait to hear what the guys think of these!

You just about can't get a better place than old town Redlands for an urban shoot or a better couple than Rebbecca and Gin. They were warned about what an urban shoot is like so they came prepared to sit on the ground and explore all the nooks and crannies with me. The were game to try all my crazy ideas. Littlest Heros Project

The Littlest Heroes Project is a non-profit based organization founded in January 2008, made up of professional photographers nationwide that provide free photo sessions to our nations Littlest Heroes. This is our way of giving back and taking a stand for these children who sometimes feel forgotten because of their illnesses. We are here to let them know that they are heroes to many, and to share their inspirational stories and photos with the world.

I met with Christina and Mike at what has to be one of the most beautiful beach locations Crystal Cove in Laguna beach. Despite a rough start, and me getting wet to my knees, I enjoyed the beautiful weather and getting to know these two.

I met the amazing Aracely and her fiancee Hector at the historic Biltmore hotel in downtown Los Angles (bonus for me as I have always wanted to see the Biltmore). They couldn't have been more fun or more glamours and the Biltmore was to die for.
As if that wasn't already a photographer's dream location when then made a mad dash over to Olvera street for another amazing site.
After a quick outfit change into traditional Mexican outfits (could they be any more fabulous?) we ran around exploring the streets and having more fun than I thought I could have on a shoot.

I met sweet Blaire and her husband Trevor at Fairmount park in Riverside to capture some shots of the baby belly. Sunny California? Who says? It was freezing but Blaire and Trevor were troopers and made it through the cold (and a little bit of rain) with me.

Baby Lucas is due in just 14 days (my bet is for him to come early) and I can't wait to get my lens on him. Thanks for braving the cold with me guys. See you in a few weeks.

Man have I have been on a roll lately with great families. I met with another fantastic family at Mt. Sac college campus (my sister's nursing school alma mater). The T family really know their photography poses and were spot on (and so easy to work with). Lori happens to be a great make-up artist and I am looking for to working with her in the future.

If I owe you an email I promise I will get it out today. Things have been very crazy around here.

The short version...

We had to say goodbye to our beloved Missy Moo on Saturday morning. Her health has been going downhill and it was time to make her comfortable.

Saturday evening we celebrated my mother's birthday and my husband got stuck at work because of the fires closing all the freeways.

Sunday my sister and her family got evacuated from their home because of the fires and ended up here with her kids and 4 (yes 4) dogs. Luckily the winds shifted and the fire didn't get her house. Then my in-laws came over for a long planned visit.

Monday was my 1st wedding anniversary so my husband and I spent the day together and today is my husband's birthday.

When I'm exhausted just writing all that! I have about 20 emails to catch up on but I promise to get back to you soon as possible.

When my neighbors came over to check out our Halloween decorations Olivia in her Halloween costume was too cute to resist. Sweet little Isabel is a whirlwind of all girl. She never stopped moving...for two whole hours. It was a ton of fun. At one point she had all 5, yes 5, of tutus on! The pictures totally capture Izzy's personality to a T and you have to love a girl that knows her accessories.

Taking what I learned yesterday I convinced my niece to let me practice on her. We drove a few blocks from my house, found an abandoned parking lot, and had fun running around for 30 minutes taking photos.

Again I learn a lot from my mistakes and had a lot of fun.

S & R Wedding 9/20/08 Part 1

After a simple civil ceremony Sherry and Rick had always planned to have a big church wedding someday. Well after three beautiful girls and 1o years together they got their big celebration, and what a celebration it was!

The bride's nephews bumped heads with his brother a few days before the wedding leaving this little boy with two black eyes. He was adorable and I called him bruiser all night.

I received the binder for my photography class that starts in November. I so excited and super hopeful that it will be an opportunity to really improve my photos. I haven't had much luck with classes so far.

I took some classes at Claremont but while the teacher was great I didn't learn as much as I was hoping.

I signed up for a class through UCR. It was so bad I dropped it after only one class. I seriously think I know more than the teacher did. Ugh!
So come on November 17th!

AND it's my first wedding anniversary too. Score!

Mmmm maybe I need to work on my priorities.

Easter Photos with my 50mm

We picked up my new 50mm 1.8 lens on the way to my SIL Karla's house and I got to practice on the boys. Much fun. Too bad I forgot that I put the ISO to 1600. Oh well - still like how they turned out.
